Barcelona en Comú has announced this Wednesday that in view of the decision of the Zone Electoral Board to ratify the count made last Friday and to dismiss the appeal presented by those of Ada Colau so that the result of two tables and the total of the invalid vote, “has decided not to continue with the administrative process and will not present any further arguments& rdquor ;.
In other words, the Comuns renounce to follow the itinerary that remained to them, which after the Zone Electoral Board meant appealing to the Central Electoral Board, with the option, if this instance did not agree with them either, of opting for a judicial appeal, which would have delayed the investiture of the new mayor from June 17 to July 7.
“fair” claim
In this way, Colau considers the result of the municipal elections to be good and definitive, which left her 342 votes behind Jaume Collboni and one councilor less. The party has informed of the decision defending the appeal that it presented: “Barcelona en Comú has decided not to continue with the administrative process and will not present any further allegations. Despite this, we consider that it was fair to claim the rights of voters in cases of some obvious errors, and that, despite not altering the result, it was important to defend those votes & rdquor ;.

In his appeal, the Comuns asked for 150 votes from a table in Ciutat Vella and 40 from one in Horta. Had they been recognized, they would not have been enough to wrest a councilor and second place from the PSC. In the text sent by a spokesperson, the Comuns added that they are still trying to prevent Xavier Trias from being the new mayor: “Barcelona en Comú is focused on talks with other parties and maintains its desire to find the right formula to make a progressive government possible in Barcelona”.
Vox thinks about it
In addition to the 190 votes from the two tables, Barcelona en Comú also requested a review of the total invalid vote, 6,400 ballots. And also without success. The Zone Electoral Board refused to do so during the count on Friday, with the exception of the invalid vote that was challenged during election day, and reaffirmed its rejection of the appeal of the Comuns and that of Vox, which in its case only requested the review of the invalid vote considering that some of their votes were annulled because they presented two different ballots, both valid according to the Zone Electoral Board. The far-right party has not yet decided whether to appeal to the Central Electoral Board or throw in the towel as well.
