Coffee time keeps hand above Ron Brandsteder: ‘Stupidly drunk!’

Favoritism and stars held over their heads: it has been happening in Hilversum for years, says Private star journalist Jan Uriot. “The same goes for Ron Brandsteder!”

It is no secret that Hilversum is linked to conflicts of interest and favoritism, but according to Private star journalist Jan Uriot that has never really been different. He tells in the podcast which he makes with Marc-Marie Huijbregts that he once received a subject ban from the program Koffietijd.

Subject ban

It comes up when Jan and Marc-Marie look back on their own performance at Koffietijd, to promote their podcast. “The two of us visited Koffietijd. This is all done by the Postcode Lottery. That is an organization that I have had to deal with in the past,” says Jan.

He continues: “When we were there at that Koffietijd, they showed an old fragment of me from fifteen years ago, that I was there and that I was there every week bringing the show news.”

Mouth gagged

Then he was once gagged, says Jan. “The Postcode Lottery has a number of friends who work for them, including Ron Brandsteder at the time. Well, on the morning I was sitting there, fifteen years ago, Ron Brandsteder had driven into the Vecht with his drunken head.”

He continues: “Yes, he crawled out again, but the car was still in the ditch. But I was not allowed to deal with that, because he was a friend of the Postcode Lottery.”

Black shirt

To make matters worse, Jan also got a shirt ban on that day. “When I arrived there in a light blue shirt and a jacket, according to the director, the shirt did not match Loretta Schrijver’s clothing. If I had something else with me.”

“Then I was presenting in the cameraman’s black shirt. All so compulsive…”
