Tennis player Max Houkes, rider Hester Bischot, football player Noa Altena and two dance teams from In2Dance are the winners of the Coevorder Sports Election 2022.
This was announced on Friday evening during the sports gala in the theater hall of the town hall in Coevorden. The winners are therefore directly nominated for the Sportgala Drenthe on March 6, 2023 in the Atlas Theater in Emmen.
Max Houkes
Tennis player Max Houkes wins in the sportsman category. His competitors were rope puller Thomas Vroege and soccer player Marijn Verdoold. Houkes has made huge strides on the ATP list and is now number 329 in the world. He has achieved many achievements, such as winning a tournament in Oldenzaal, Peru and Casablanca.
Hester Bischot
Hester Bischot takes the win in the sportswoman category. Together with rope puller Chantal Gerth she was nominated in the sportswoman category. In November Bischot became European dressage champion at the Iberian Masters at level 6, the highest level. This is a competition for the special horse breeds: the Spanish PRE and the Portuguese Lusitanos.
Noah Altena
The young talents could not be missed either. In the sports talent category, you could vote for football player Noa Altena, judoka Renske Eijsink and horse rider Marije Hiemstra. Football player Noa Altena received the most votes and will continue to the Sports Gala Drenthe.
Noa has been playing football for at least two seasons for the North-East selection of the KNVB. In addition, she made it through to the national selection of the JO14 last year. Also this year she has been invited again for the national selection of JO15. With her Raptim team jo-13 she became champion. In addition, last season she made an important contribution to the promotion of the JO13- 1 team from vv Raptim to the 2th division.
In2Dance
Two dance teams from In2Dance, the Jazz team and No Nameh have qualified for the 2023 Dance Worlds World Championships in Orlando. In the final of the Elite Cheerleading Championship, the jazz team finished in third place, making it the best placed team in the Netherlands. No Name placed itself as the best NL team during the European Championship Elite championship and again won a World Cup ticket.
Nominations
In December, residents of the municipality of Coevorden could nominate their sports heroes. A jury – consisting of a neighborhood sports coach, alderman, sports talent of 2021 and an employee of Sport Drenthe – established the list of nominees.
