Another wolf has turned up in Brabant. This time the animal was spotted at Riel. Potato farmer Coen saw him while mowing and took a picture. He wants to warn fellow farmers.
As a potato farmer, he himself is not so afraid that the wolf can do some damage. “I was working on the land, mowing”, says Coen about his meeting. “I drove past him and suddenly saw something rise in the rear-view mirror.”
At first he thought he saw a dog. “But then I looked back again. Yes, then I turned around and drove back to take a picture.” The animal kept posing for Coen for a while. “Then he became quite shy.” He’s sure it was a wolf. “When I looked back at the photos, I thought: I can’t miss that.”
The wolf was close. “He was actually in the strip next to me. I think he was sleeping or resting.” The wolf hung around Coen’s land for about fifteen minutes. Then he lost sight of him.
The potato farmer had never seen a wolf in the area before. “But I’ve heard that there was a suspicion that he had been around.”
Coen especially hopes to be able to warn fellow farmers about the wolf. “I can imagine that as a livestock farmer you are not happy with a wolf in the neighborhood. And if you have hobby sheep, neither.”
