Coen & Sander disappoint 538 colleague: ‘Huh, Frank Másmeijer?!’

Coen Sander and Sander Lantinga are among the people in the media who give Frank Masmeijer a stage to revive his showbiz career. Too bad, says 538 colleague Rick Romijn.

Rick Romijn, the Johan Derksen of Radio 538, is annoyed that Dutch celebrities with a criminal past are continuously hoisted on the saddle by Hilversum. That was already the case with Willem Holleeder, who joined his then 538 colleague Ruud de Wild, Rick recently snorted. And now the same is happening with Frank Masmeijer.

Criticism of Coen & Sander

A documentary about Frank is coming up and he is now promoting it everywhere. Last weekend he was a guest in RTL 4’s Renze op Zondag and 538’s De Coen & Sander Show. But should you give someone who has been sentenced to nine years in prison for cocaine smuggling such a stage?

Rick has mixed feelings about that. “He was also a guest at Coen & Sander on Friday,” he says annoyed in the morning show Radio 538. “I have a lot of problems with that guy.”

Show host Tim Klijn jokes: “With Coen or with Sander?”

Rick jokes back: “With Sander. No no no no.”

Hundreds of kilograms

Of course, Rick is referring to Frank here. “It’s just a big drug dealer, isn’t it? He just brought in hundreds of kilos of misery in the Netherlands.”

Fellow sidekick Niels van Baarlen: “Yes, but then everyone comes to the point: he has served his sentence, so he has to go again…”

Rick: “Well, he was pardoned for two and a half years.”

Niels: “Yes, that is very strange.”

Patjepeeer

He’s just not a nice guy either, Rick thinks. Unreliable too. “Suppose Frank Masmeijer had been a car salesman, would you have bought a car from him?”

Tim: “Hahaha. Well, well, no, I don’t think so. There’s something unreliable about him.”

Rick: “He’s just a patjepeer.”

Niels: “It’s just wrong.”

Fond of money

Rick: “He’s wrong from head to toe.”

Newsreader Florentien van der Meulen: “And love money, don’t you? That’s what he’s known for.”

Niels aloud: “Oh, was he a woman in his previous life?!”

The rest: “Hahahahahaha.”

“Cut it!”

Angela de Jong fully understands Rick’s problem. She says in the AD Media podcast: “We just have to stop with everyone who has been convicted of hoisting things right back on the screen. Frank Masmeijer was no longer in the picture at all. He was in the hospitality industry in Belgium, let him go back there.”

“He doesn’t have to be helped back on stage now because he happened to record a song? Fuck off, dude,” she continues. But her own AD is also participating, right? “Yes. I think it’s really terrible. Real. I also have children. I want that rubbish to go out of the world.”
