Coen Swijnenberg and Sander Lantinga thanked you on Thursday evening in the last broadcast of The Coen and Sander Show the listeners who have listened to their Radio 538 program for sixteen years.
“Sometimes you lose sight of a goal,” Lantinga said in his closing monologue. “But in the past three months, after the news broke that we were going to stop, we understood very well again. Radio is the most beautiful medium in the world; the heartwarming interaction with the listener. Thank you for having a piece of your life allowed to determine.”
Swijnenberg also emphasized that he was moved by all the reactions they had received in recent weeks. “Thank you to everyone who took the trouble to let us know,” said the DJ. “It’s not normal how people have sympathized with us in recent years.”
The DJs also played their last record during the show. The duo chose the song Times are Changing by the band DI-RECT from The Hague. It was one of the first records the group made after vocalist Tim Akkerman left the band. “Be open to change, be open to new things,” says Lantinga. “We’re looking forward to that.”
The DJs emphasized again in the broadcast that it was not their choice to stop the program. Talpa and Radio 538 decided to stop the program.
