Code yellow starts today: these are all relaxation | Coronavirus what you need to know

Not all corona figures are yet below the proposed thresholds, but they continue to fall. And so the Consultation Committee has decided to switch to code yellow as of today. But what exactly does code yellow mean? An overview of all rules.

Read everything about the coronavirus in this file.

Code yellow on the corona barometer indicates that the epidemiological situation and the pressure on hospitals in our country are under control.

To switch to code yellow, daily less than 65 hospital admissions to be. In addition, no more than 300 corona patients in intensive care lying down. Those conditions have not yet been fully met. Although fewer than 300 intensive care beds have already been taken, we still had an average of 131 hospital admissions per day in the past seven days.

Moreover, as soon as we switch to code yellow, on Monday 7 March, there will no longer be a state of emergency. The corona barometer still remains in force.

catering industry

• The catering industry has, just like with code orange, in the case of code yellow no closing time Lake.

• The mouth mask obligation will also be abolished, both for customers and for staff

• Customers are also not required to show CST.

• Inside there must be a CO2 meter present. Outside, just as with events, the indoor air quality standards apply and the target value is again 900 ppm CO2 and the limit 1,500 ppm.

Leisure activities

• For leisure activities that take place indoors, in a group and without an audience (workshops, rehearsals, indoor sports without an audience, youth and sports camps,…), again virtually no measures apply. However, extra attention remains good ventilation necessary. There is no longer any limitation on the capacity of the activities. In the case of youth camps, there is also no restriction on the number of overnight stays.

• If the leisure activity takes place outdoors (such as outdoor sports and youth activities, hiking events, amateur cycling competitions, day trips,…) no measures

Mouthmask obligation

• In all scenarios mentioned, wearing a mouth mask (preferably an FFP2 mask) is still recommended for people who medically vulnerable to be. Also on the public transport and in healthcare institutions the mouth mask obligation continues to apply. Wearing a mouth mask on public transport remains mandatory until at least 25 March, but only applies in the vehicles (trains, buses, trams,…) and not in the station buildings or on the platforms.

• In shops and supermarkets do customers need from Monday no mouth mask more to wear.

• Also in sschools the mouth mask obligation disappears.

• If sufficient distance cannot be kept, wearing a mouth mask is still recommended.

To travel

• Belgians who travel back to our country from a country within the European Schengen zone will from Friday, March 11 no Passenger Locator Form (PLF) need to fill in more.

• For travel to third countries that are not on the so-called ‘white list’ – including New Zealand, Rwanda, Uruguay and South Korea – the PLF must still be completed.

About the test and quarantine policy the health ministers will soon be sitting together, according to virologist Steven Van Gucht. He does expect that much less will be tested and that the quarantine policy will also be adjusted to code yellow. For those who travel to Belgium and have one of the three Covid certificates (vaccination, test or recovery), the test and quarantine obligation will already expire.

“If you do not have one of those certificates and you come as a Belgian from a country that is dark red, there is still a test obligation. But for the rest it’s just the DCC (Digital Corona Certificate, ed.) show,” says Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit). For people who come from countries with so-called disturbing variants (“Variants of Concern” or VOC), the specific test and quarantine rules will continue to apply.

Next Consultation Committee

on March 25 there would be another Consultation Committee take place to see whether the mouth mask obligation within healthcare institutions and on public transport can also be deleted and to check whether all measures can be omitted. In addition, next week the federal phase will be abolished and it will be examined at regional level which measures are still needed.
