Code red for coastal provinces and Wadden area

Code red applies on Friday afternoon from 2 p.m. for the Dutch Wadden area and the provinces of North Holland, South Holland, Zeeland, Flevoland and Friesland due to storm Eunice. That’s what the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute has announced† In the areas, the KNMI issues a code red because of expected wind gusts of 100 to 130 kilometers per hour.

The rest of the country, with the exception of the province of Limburg, will receive code orange. The peak of the (extremely) heavy winds is expected in the afternoon and evening. The KNMI warns of “considerable damage and very dangerous situations”, such as falling trees and flying objects.
