The KNMI has issued a code orange for almost all of the Netherlands due to storm Louis, which will pass over the country on Thursday evening. Code yellow only applies in Limburg. The weather institute expected very heavy gusts of wind and (thunder) showers.
The storm will make landfall in the west around 6 p.m. Along the coast, above the IJsselmeer and above the Wadden area, the wind force can reach more than 120 kilometers per hour. Over land, wind gusts of more than 100 kilometers per hour can occur. Later this evening the wind will gradually decrease in strength.
KLM canceled 64 European flights that were due to depart or land at Schiphol on Thursday due to the expected gusts of wind. Rijkswaterstaat warns motorists who have to take to the road on Thursday evening and asks them to adjust their driving style.
