2nd seed Aryna Sabalenka and 6th seeded USA’s Coco Gauff faced off in the 2023 US Open women’s singles final. Sabalenka won the first set of the match played at Arthur Ashe Stadium, 6-2, and took the lead 1-0. Recovering in the second set, 19-year-old Gauff won this set 6-3 and brought the score to 1-1. Gauff, who dominated the deciding set from start to finish, won this set 6-2, brought the score to 2-1 and became the champion of the 2023 US Open.
GAUFF’S FIRST GRAND SLAM VICTORY
19-year-old Coco Gauff won a Grand Slam title for the first time in her career as the 2023 US Open champion. Gauff had previously succeeded in reaching the final of the French Open (Roland Garros) in 2022. The young American racket was satisfied with the 2nd place in that final, losing 2-0 to Polish Iga Swiatek in sets of 6-1, 6-3.
