A drugged racer fled from a police check on Sunday night.

At around 3:20 a.m., police officers noticed a VW on Seestraße that was speeding towards the A100. They stopped the car at the corner of Beusselstrasse and Saatwinkler Damm to check the driver.

The VW driver reversed and tried to drive past the police car that was across from him. There was a collision, but the driver fled.

At the junction with Saatwinkler Damm and Adam-von-Trott-Straße, the getaway car got onto the paved median, and a front wheel was damaged.

The two occupants then fled on foot, but were stopped by emergency services.

A drug test on the driver (27) was positive for cocaine. He was taken into police custody and released after police action. The police are now investigating a hit-and-run and traffic hazard under the influence of drugs.
