A cocaine laundry was discovered in the Chaam countryside on Monday afternoon. This is a place where cocaine is extracted from clothing or cardboard, for example, and processed into powder form. A 58-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman have been arrested.
The police received an anonymous tip on Monday afternoon that there may be a drug lab on a plot with a bungalow and shed on the Leerdreef.
After investigation it turned out that it was a cocaine laundromat. For example, clothing, cardboard or shampoo in which cocaine has been secretly processed. This makes it easier to smuggled into the country. In the laundry, the cocaine is removed from the items and processed with chemicals into a powder form.
The lab has been dismantled. Solvents and materials such as presses, molds and microwave ovens have been seized.
