The coastal mayors, together with Westtoer, want to work together to strengthen the coast. Jean-Marie Dedecker even advocates a new kind of coastal action plan to get more resources to the sea, but that is not included in the strategic vision for the future. Jean-Marie Dedecker: Chairman of the Coastal Mayors Consultation: “There should be new coastal action plans and a global approach in which everyone has a seat at the table. With public works, with road and water works, and tourism. We also have to discover new markets. We always work nearby, but if people believe in climate change, they will come here from the North, because then it might become too hot in Sicily and Nice.”
