Coast is preparing for a hot and busy weekend: “We are fully booked”

On the beach of Ostend it is already pleasantly busy today. The beach bars are also ready for a busy weekend. “July has started a bit calmer. We are waiting for the masses. And I do think that this weekend will be busy with the construction leave,” says Frank Thiers of Blue Buddha Beach Club.

Escape the heat

A pleasant warmth can please many, but too warm, you sometimes flee from it. If you live inland, a trip to the coast is ideal. “Ten days ago we booked a week at sea. When they predicted that hot weather, we thought: ‘get some fresh air at the sea’.”

At Hotel Cocoon you can look forward to a busy weekend. Two months ago, the first bookings came in and with this beautiful weather, many last minute reservations will be added. “We have 80 percent occupancy. We will be fully booked this weekend,” says Annelise Sanders of C-Hotels.

The 240 coastal hotels are doing good business. Especially tourists from our own country and neighboring countries, France, the Netherlands and Germany come to our coast.

Pressure barometer

On the Westtoer website you will find a pressure barometer that tells you how busy it is in a certain zone. You can consult different zones in Ostend. And based on color codes: green, yellow, orange or red, you can see how busy it is.

Tourists are also advised to get to the sea by public transport.

At the same time, the Ostend police warns to remain alert with children on the coast. Recently, some had already been lost. Also watch out for spring tides.
