Coast experiences heyday during spring break
The tourist sector on the Belgian coast experienced another heyday last spring break. The beautiful weather attracted many day tourists to the coast and the number of bookings in hotels and holiday homes also makes the sector satisfied. The first weekend in particular was a direct hit in the hotels, with an occupancy rate of up to 80%. Compared to the same period last year, 26% more nights were booked in hotels by the sea. With an average occupancy percentage of around 60%, the bookings of holiday homes remain at the same level as last year.
“Four Seasons Destination”
“The tourism sector by the sea is breathing again and is hopeful that the post-corona era has finally started. More than ever, the Coast is confirming as a destination for the four seasons. During the first holiday period of the year, Flemish and French-speaking Belgians like to travel to the sea. Foreign guests are also finding their way to our coast again,” explains Sabine Lahaye-Battheu, deputy and chairman of Westtoer.
