Coalition Meerssen must start at the end of May | 1Limburg

The intention is that the coalition agreement in Meerssen will be discussed in the council meeting on 24 May. Then the new aldermen must also be appointed.

Local DNA, the progressive list WATCH!!! and the CDA have been working for more than three weeks on drawing up an administrative agreement. “The talks are going on in good mutual understanding”, they say in an interim message.

Ideas
There are also talks with various local (umbrella) organizations to get ideas for the coalition programme. According to the three parties, this is new when forming a coalition.

three aldermen
Meerssen currently has three aldermen from outside the municipality. They were recruited after the governance crisis of September 2020. Local DNA, LOOK!!! and CDA must now decide whether they will continue in this way, come up with their own aldermen or perhaps opt for a combination of both options.

The three parties together account for 11 of the 17 seats in the city council.
