Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd will be performing at the Coachella festival next weekend. This has now been confirmed by the President and CEO Paul Tollet of the Coachella organizer “Goldenvoice” in a statement to “Variety”. The two headliners will be filling in for Kanye West, aka Ye, after he canceled his performance earlier this week.
Tollet told Variety, “Coachella has a special relationship with Abel [Tesfaye alias The Weeknd] and I am so grateful that we will have this performance with these iconic artists on the same stage.” The singer was allowed to headline the festival back in 2008. So far there has been no official statement as to why Kanye West is not appearing. The rapper had already threatened to boycott the festival last February because he felt Billie Eilish’s statement after a concert was abandoned as a provocation to Travis Scott. Mind you, Travis Scott, whose deletion from the line-up made West’s booking possible in the first place.
The Weeknd and producer trio Swedish House Mafia released a joint single called “Moth to a Flame” last year.
