In top 10 SCF record players
Janik Haberer will no longer be available to SC Freiburg in the 2022/23 season – as of now. The 28-year-old midfielder’s contract ends in the summer. “He played with us for a few years. It wasn’t always easy, he had to deal with a few things,” said coach Christian Streich on Thursday.
“Now it looks like – it’s not fixed yet – that he’ll probably leave the club and look for a new challenge,” said the 56-year-old. Haberer switched from TSG Hoffenheim to Breisgau in 2016 for 2 million euros and rose to the top 10 of SC record players in the years that followed. At the beginning of January, “Sky” reported that the club and the right-footed will probably part ways. “That’s okay. He played here for many years. He did everything for us and we did everything for him,” said Streich.

In recent years there had been speculation about the exact length of the contract and a premature departure of the professional. Haberer wanted to leave Freiburg in the summer of 2020, but was stopped by an injury. At his request, the severe injury – a fibula fracture and syndesmosis tear – was only communicated late at the time. The former youth international has made 28 appearances (two goals) in the league and cup this season, playing 877 minutes in the process. He was only eight times in the starting XI, nine times he was left unconsidered on the bench.
