Rick Mathijssen is the new coach of the Amsterdam hockey players. At the end of this season he will take over from Taco van den Honert. Mathijssen comes from Bloemendaal, where he was the coach of the men’s team from 2020.
The new coach of the Amsterdam team has signed a three-year contract in the capital. Mathijssen previously coached the first women’s team in Amsterdam. He did this from 2015 to 2019. In his final year he won the national championship and the Euro Hockey League (EHL).
Successes with Bloemendaal
After his period in Amsterdam he went to Bloemendaal. He was also successful there. For example, he has won the EHL in the past three years and won two national championships with Bloemendaal. This summer he just missed out on the third national championship with Bloemendaal by losing the final to Amsterdam’s Pinoké.
