Coach Pointner to Poland? “Constructive Conversations”

Innsbruck (AP) – Ski jumping coach Alexander Pointner has confirmed negotiations with the Polish Ski Association and can apparently imagine returning as head coach.

“There are constructive discussions that are characterized by mutual respect,” said the 51-year-old Pointner of the German Press Agency. Pointner could follow Michal Dolezal in Poland, who experienced a largely unsuccessful winter despite strong and highly decorated jumpers like Kamil Stoch or Dawid Kubacki.

The Tyrolean Pointner was head coach in his home country Austria for many years and led the team around Gregor Schlierenzauer and Thomas Morgenstern to several overall World Cup victories and a series of triumphs at the Four Hills Tournament. In recent years, Pointner has worked primarily as an expert and columnist.
