Out of frustration at his fixed end, the Bocholt trainer dismantled the cabin that he had set up himself. Now the club boss speaks out – and hopes for a reconciliation.
This process caused a stir nationwide. Niko Laukötter, coach of the second representative of regional league team 1. FC Bocholt, was informed at the weekend that the club was no longer planning to work with him after the end of the season.
This caused a strong reaction. With Laukötter himself and also with his team, which boycotted their championship game on Sunday. Laukötter, on the other hand, expressed his frustration in a different way after 15 years at the club. He quickly dismantled the interior of the Bocholt crew cabin – lockers, lockers, even a disco ball. He installed all of this himself for his players during the corona pandemic.
Bocholt’s managing director Christopher Schorch has now reacted publicly to the incident. He told the “Express”: “I’ve experienced a lot and seen a lot, in my professional career and now also in the last year and a half at 1. FC Bocholt. But I’ve never experienced anything like that. Now we have to somehow Getting the cow off the ice.”
Club boss: “Players don’t want to have a five-month break now”
The former 1. FC Köln professional continued: “He (Laukötter, editor’s note) took the things he had paid for and made available to the club back with him. I think that is legitimate. The floor has “It wasn’t torn out – it’s scuffed up by the cleats.”
Despite the strong reactions from the coach and team, Schorch hopes for an agreement with both sides: “We are now trying to clarify things and I hope that we can find a solution.” He emphasizes: “One thing is clear: the players also want to play, they don’t want to have a five-month break.”
Schorch does not want to rule out the possibility of a reconciliation with Laukötter. “I’ll talk to him, I don’t want to slam any doors until we’ve spoken again. We wanted a realignment and communicated that early on. Maybe a lot has happened out of emotion.”
