Coach Manfred Schmid takes over at Wolfsberger AC

After bun separation

One day after the separation from Robin Dutt, Bundesliga club Wolfsberger AC presented a new head coach: Manfred Schmid will coach the current ninth-placed player. The 52-year-old worked for league rivals Austria Wien for a year and a half and led Austria to the group stage of the Conference League, among other things, before he was surprisingly dismissed in December last year.

Before his time in Favoriten, Schmid worked for years as an assistant coach, including with Peter Stöger at 1. FC Köln and Borussia Dortmund. Now he should bring the Carinthians back on the road to success, the WAC missed the qualification for the upper playoff for the first time.

President Dietmar Riegler said of the new trainer: “I am delighted to have found a trainer for the WAC in Manfred Schmid who has already gained valuable experience both nationally and internationally. He has proven that he can develop young players and therefore he fits in perfectly with our philosophy. I am convinced that he will set the right stimuli to get the team back on the road to success as quickly as possible.”
