Coach Luis Enrique already in Paris – Galtier must probably leave PSG

Status: 04.07.2023 3:10 p.m

The announcement is obviously imminent. According to media reports, Spain’s former national coach is in Paris to sign the contract. And PSG have announced a Pk for Wednesday.

The announcement of Luis Enrique as the new Paris Saint-Germain manager is apparently imminent. According to information from the French capital’s newspaper “Le Parisien”, the 53-year-old Spaniard was already in Paris to sign a contract.

And his new employer, who is likely to be designated, announced a press conference on the new PSG campus for Wednesday at 2 p.m. “The 2023-2024 season has officially started!” the club wrote on its website.

The French master did not give any other details. Neither does who will attend the press conference to be broadcast across all PSG channels. “The announcement of Enrique’s arrival is being prepared,” wrote the sports newspaper “L’Équipe” online.

Separation from Galtier

Before that, however, PSG will have to announce the separation from Christophe Galtier after just one year. The 56-year-old, who had to face charges of racism from his time at OGC Nice in mid-December, had not been able to lead the star ensemble to the hoped-for success. Although PSG became French champions, the team around world champion Lionel Messi failed in the Champions League in the round of 16 at FC Bayern. Galtier’s contract is valid until the end of June next year.

Luis Enrique has been without a job since the split after the Spaniards lost the World Cup in Qatar. The broadcaster RMC Sport recently reported that the former professional and coach of FC Barcelona was already looking for a flat on the Seine and that the PSG professionals had been informed that training would start again on July 10th. Ex-Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann was initially one of the candidates at PSG.
