Why do we think that if it doesn’t move it doesn’t work?
Do you think that working is synonymous with movement?
Great ideas arise when we sleep or at leisure, when we give them space to appear.
When I was a teenager, my grandmother told me that I had to study for ninety minutes and go for a walk around the block or clear my head for fifteen, so that the time would pay off… She did it and she was a brilliant student!
If we stop and distance ourselves, the perspective is greater and we have a wider range of possibilities.
In companies, there are middle managers who do not dare to stop and think, because others may assume that they are wasting their time.
In these hierarchies, the economic reward is for creating strategies, projects and for maximizing the potential of the team.
I went to a company and asked the leaders to make a list of the activities they usually do.
What do you think we found out?
A lot of time was dedicated to operational tasks (instead of delegating), or to making reports that their colleagues should have made but felt they could not refuse to do so.
They hired us to perform certain functions, and we are going to be evaluated for compliance or not with those commitments.
Time is limited and we have to prioritize our role; If I don’t exercise it, who is going to do it?
What had they hired us for? Let’s focus!
Let’s divide tasks, explain in detail what we want and set limits to optimize time.
Many times I hear that they do not want to delegate because they distrust the work of the collaborators.
Trust is the canvas on which we shape our management, if we lack it it is impossible to coordinate actions. Many times we believe that the collaborators are the ones who fail… but in reality we are the ones who do not complete the explanation.
Trust, the power to delegate, communication, is built in each conversation, with each promise fulfilled, aligning expectations, listening, clarifying, building a new strategy together.
How could they guess what I want?
Exactly! Talking!
What conversation do you need to have?
With who?
I can help you?
