Coach lands in Malaysia: store concept in old airplane

The US bag and fashion label Coach has launched a very special store concept at the Freeport A’Famosa outlet in Malacca, Malaysia: an entire airplane including a runway.

The aircraft model “Boeing 747” has been offering Coach customers the brand’s collections and access to a restaurant since May, the open-air outlet announced on Monday. At the store entrance, customers receive an admission ticket that is based on a flight ticket in order to enhance the shopping experience.

“The opening of Coach Airways not only marks the launch of our first retail concept of its kind, but also an exciting moment for Coach as we continue to innovate and create a space for customers to discover and interact,” said Campbell O’ Shea, general manager of Coach parent Tapestry for Southeast Asia and Oceania. “We look forward to bringing our customers this experience-driven retail pop-up at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet, a popular shopping destination in Malacca.”

The project – including acquisition and transfer of the aircraft – started in April 2021.
