Coach Arjan Taaij is happy that American Kyle McCauley has signed up with volleyball team Samen Lycurgus in Groningen

The American passer-runner Kyle McCauley will also play next season with the Samen Lycurgus volleyball team in Groningen.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Tritons University in San Diego last summer, has extended his contract with the team for a year. ,,I enjoyed playing for Lycurgus last season”, says McCauley from the United States, where he has temporarily returned. ,,Unfortunately, the season ended a little earlier for us (due to missing the final matches for the title, ed.) than expected. I’m really looking forward to coming back to Groningen to improve personally and do better as a team than last season.”

One of the best passer-runners in the premier league

McCauley grew into one of the best passer-runners in the premier league in the championship pool. He was an important offensive force in the season. The technically proficient and stable player will soon join the training program of the national team in Anaheim in his home country.

He is a very complete player

The coaching staff of Lycurgus, led by head coach Arjan Taaij, wanted to keep McCauley with the team: ,,Kyle has developed into one of the best passer-runners in the Netherlands in recent months. He is a very complete player, with whom we hope to take the next step next year.”

After the contract extension with McCauley and the Luuk Hofhuis, Guus Boer and Jeffrey Klok already committed for next season, the selection of Lycurgus consists of four players for the time being.
