Co-suspects of Nice attack risk up to fifteen years in prison | Abroad

In the trial of the attack in Nice, the Public Prosecution Service is demanding prison sentences of two to fifteen years against eight suspects. The attack in the southern French city on July 14, 2016 cost the lives of 86 people.

The eight people in the dock were to varying degrees “links” in “the chain” that led to the terror attack, the French anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office said.

The three main suspects are sentenced to 15 years in prison. Ramzi Kevin Arefa does escape the qualification of a terrorist. He would have supplied a weapon, but would not have known that the perpetrator was radicalized.

Truck

On July 14, 2016, Tunisian Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel (31) had driven into the crowd with a truck. It had gathered on the Promenade des Anglais on the occasion of the national holiday. Bouhlel is not on trial as he was killed in a shootout with police.

The eight suspects who are on trial were part of Bouhlel’s entourage or were intermediaries allegedly involved in the arms trade.
