Hub M., the man from Brunssum who was convicted of co-perpetrating the murder of 39-year-old Bobo Jalloh from Landgraaf in 2017, died in prison last week at the age of 60.
M. was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison in December 2020.
Shortness of breath
M. died in hospital on Tuesday 24 May. According to a prison spokesman, he was admitted to hospital that morning after he reported shortness of breath to ward staff and the PI medical service. In the afternoon M. passed away.
An emergency investigation is carried out by the Judicial Institutions Agency (DJI). The Health and Youth Care Inspectorate has also been informed.
Confession
Lawyer Francoise Landerloo, who represents M. in the case, says that the murder would probably never have been solved without her client’s confession. “That also marked him as a person. He thought it was more important for Jalloh’s children to know what had happened than for him to get away with it.”
Witness
M. was detained in the Penitentiary Institution (PI) in Roermond and would be questioned as a witness in the autumn because of the criminal proceedings that are being appealed against two co-defendants.
Bobo Jalloh
Bobo Jalloh was stabbed to death on May 31, 2017 in his home at the Koempel in Landgraaf. He was stabbed eight times in the chest. The woman is said to have planned the murder because her husband abused her and the children.
