Elisabeth “Lilly” Ernsting died last Wednesday at the age of 92.
The co-founder of the Ernsting’s family group of companies died surrounded by her family after a “short illness”, the fashion retailer announced in a Facebook post on Saturday.
“On behalf of 12,000 employees, we say thank you – for their commitment, their sense of family and their vision. We will always keep Lilly Ernsting’s memory on our future entrepreneurial path and often think back to this special person,” says Coesfeld-Lette in Münsterland.
Ernsting founded the company Ernsting’s family in 1968 with her husband Kurt Ernsting, who died in 2011 – under the name ‘Minipreis’ at the time. She has been involved as a shareholder in the design of the medium-sized family business up to the present. “Social, cultural and societal work was of outstanding importance” for her and her husband, the article says. This included a more than 30-year collaboration with the charitable organization Herzens Hoffnung eV.
“She was a role model, an adviser and set standards for decisions of all kinds,” said Timm Homann, CEO of the Ernsting’s family group of companies.
