It was a match to lick your fingers at. The baseball players of HCAW and Amsterdam Pirates treated the crowd to a wonderful game yesterday. After two extra innings, the Amsterdam-squad finally won 5-4. NH Sport followed clubman Humphrey Minguel during the thriller.
With the win of Amsterdam Pirates, it is 2-1 in the best-of-five series. This weekend it will become clear who qualifies for the final for the national championship. The opponent is then the Rotterdam Neptunus.
Minguel has been a volunteer at Amsterdam for 20 years. He also regularly visits his club’s away games with a group of friends. “Of course we hope that Amsterdam wins, but fun is also important,” said Minguel.

So Humphrey is devoted to Amsterdam Pirates and baseball. He was on the edge of his seat on Sunday. He was super happy after the win. “Great, this tastes like more. On to the Holland Series (series of matches for the national championship, ed.)”, Minguel said with a big smile afterwards.
