Club love exists: Danny Verbeek is going to play soccer again at ‘his’ Den Bosch

‘Child of the club’ Danny Verbeek returns to FC Den Bosch for the second time. The 31-year-old attacker signed a contract for two seasons and is thus starting his third period at the Bossche club. “I’m really looking forward to going back here again.”

Two years ago, Verbeek took the opposite route. The attacker left Den Bosch for De Graafschap to play football for promotion. That was not a success. This season in particular, the Achterhoekers had no chance of winning the title: “If I do play in this competition, I would prefer to do that for FC Den Bosch”, Verbeek was honest.

Despite an ongoing contract, De Graafschap decided to let Verbeek go on a free transfer. Verbeek had previously expressed the wish to return to FC Den Bosch: “De Graafschap appreciated my honesty and I am happy that they have finally granted me this step,” says de Bosschenaar.

“I want to support these young guys and help them further in their career.”

Verbeek is now starting his third employment with FC Den Bosch. The attacker made his professional football debut in 2009. The great talent became a permanent fixture in the team and he made a transfer to Standard Liège in 2012.

After periods at NAC and FC Utrecht, Verbeek decided to return to FC Den Bosch in 2017: “Then I wanted to find the fun again, so that I could possibly take another step afterwards.” The attacker found that pleasure again. He grew into the leader of the team and deserved a step to De Graafschap.

From talent to tastemaker and now the routine. The native Bosschenaar gets a new role in the team of trainer Jack de Gier. “I want to support these young guys and help them further in their career. In addition, just play football and be important to the team.”

“Captain or not, I just wanted to come back here.”

Whether Verbeek will take over the captaincy from Wouter van der Steen? “That is not an issue for me at all. Wouter is a good friend of mine and has really become a sign of the club in recent years. Captain or not, I just wanted to come back here.”

The residents of Bossche also brought out contract news earlier. Defender Jordy van der Winden signed a contract for two seasons with the club. With this, the left leg starts his eighth season for FC Den Bosch.
