Club icon Taco van den Honert has to save fallen top club Amsterdam

The hockey players of Amsterdam will have Taco van den Honert for the team next season. After the lost match against Bloemendaal (3-0), the club announced that the 57-year-old former international will be moved on.

Van den Honert is currently still assistant coach to Alexander Cox, who will leave after the season. Van den Honert previously worked for Amsterdam. In 2011 and 2012 he led the club to the last two league titles. He left the club in 2014 and returned seven years later as an assistant. In his active playing career, Van den Honert played for Amsterdam for many years.

At the end of last year it was announced that Cox would take a step back at Amsterdam after the season. Earlier in the afternoon, Amsterdam went down 3-0 against Bloemendaal. The fallen top club currently occupies eighth place in the premier league. Bloemendaal is second, six points behind leader Kampong.
