Club Brugge takes over Casper Nielsen from Union

On Sunday, both teams had already indicated that they had reached an agreement in principle.

Nielsen played for Union in the past three seasons. Now follows a transfer from the vice champion to the national champion. He signed a contract for four seasons in the Jan Breydel Stadium.

Nielsen helped Union to the title in 1B and the Brussels club then continued its momentum in the Jupiler Pro League. The Danish midfielder had a large share in the performance. He played 39 of the 40 league matches last season and managed to score seven times. He also provided six assists.

In the meantime, Nielsen also became a Danish international and hopes to be selected for the World Cup in Qatar next winter (November 21 – December 18). At Club Brugge he has to fill the gap left by Mats Rits. Rits dropped out in the play-offs with a cruciate ligament injury and may be sidelined until New Years.
