Club Brugge takes 17th Supercup
The start of the match was for Bruges. Roef had to show himself on an attempt by Vormer with left. After twenty minutes, Ghent came back into the game with a chance for Cuypers. Gent kept threatening with a shot from Nurio and then a later disallowed goal from Tissoudali. The Moroccan put the ball in the net on a cross by Samoise in the back of the Bruges defence, but was called back due to offside.
1-0 halfway
Then Bruges came up again, with a busy Skov Olsen, who came in from the right flank. The shot deflected on Ngadeu, but went past Roef in goal. So it was 1-0 at halftime. The Buffalos came out of the locker rooms with good will. Tissoudali got a ball just in front of goal, but couldn’t make the decision. Hjulsager shot hard from outside the box, but Mignolet appeared to be well awake.
In the last quarter of the match, AA Gent had opportunities to equalize on a few standing phases, among other things. Odoi also had to intervene on a dangerous dribble by Tissoudali, but Hein Vanhazenbroeck’s troops did not come up with any real big opportunities. Club finished the match based on experience and Carl Hoefkens immediately took his first trophy as a blue-black trainer.
