Club Brugge stadium dossier: change in parking regulations gives hope for a new application

Club Brugge is currently holding an information market for local residents in the Jan Breydel stadium. It is already the fourth information moment where the plans for a new stadium on the Olympia site are presented. 6,000 local residents received an invitation for this.

Concerns of local residents

At the beginning of this year, the permit granted for the construction was canceled because, according to some local residents, too little account was taken of parking and mobility. Due to a change in the parking regulations, Club Brugge meets the criticism and will soon apply for a new permit.

The design of the stadium and the surrounding area remains almost the same. The biggest adjustment is the parking pressure in the streets around the stadium. The city of Bruges has adapted its parking law for this.

Special parking card

With a special parking card, about 3600 cars can park in the immediate vicinity of the stadium, especially cars that are well filled. In some streets you will be able to park for a maximum of one hour during matches.

Other cars can park in the peripheral car parks of Bruges where shuttle buses are provided. There will also be more than 4,000 bicycle parking spaces.

18 years

Club Brugge wants to build a new football stadium with just over 40,000 seats. The case has dragged on for almost 18 years.
