Club Brugge stables Cisse Sandra at Excelsior in Eredivisie
The nineteen-year-old midfielder wants to make as many minutes as possible in Rotterdam and develop himself further.
Sandra had been in the Bruges first team since the winter of 2021 and made his official debut for blue-black in the Supercup against Genk in July of that year. In the meantime, he is in 25 official matches for Club Brugge, in which he scored twice. He also gained experience in the Champions League.
However, the competition at Club is fierce and that is why a loan to Excelsior will follow this season. On Saturday, Sandra was already present at the home match against Ajax (2-2). “I have a very positive feeling about that,” he said on the website of the Dutch first division. “I saw a lot of quality, at least against an opponent like Ajax. It’s nice that they kept the result, although it became a bit more physically difficult towards the end. I was also happy with the atmosphere in the stadium. A really cozy and family atmosphere atmosphere. I’m looking forward to playing here myself.”
Game minutes needed
“I need playing minutes and Excelsior offers me a good stage to show myself,” he continued. “After the conversations I had, I immediately felt very good here. The trainer talked about the style of play, what they expect from players and how they see me in that. They think I fit in well and that made me quickly convinced. The match against Ajax strengthened the good feeling about the club, feeling is important to me.”
After two match days in the Eredivisie, Excelsior is in sixth place with four points.
