Club Brugge remains in trouble after losing at…

Club Brugge seems to have completely forgotten how to win in the Belgian football competition. Blauw-zwart lost 1-0 on the eleventh matchday on Saturday against bottom-of-the-line KV Kortrijk and is left with a weak 3 out of 15. Coach Ronny Deila’s team has not been able to win five games in a row.

Kortrijk took the lead after 36 minutes in the Guldenspoorstadion. The Guys took full advantage of a slider from Vetlesen, who lost the ball to Henen. He launched Isaak Davies, after which the Welsh striker beat Simon Mignolet with a striking kick. The Bruges goalie had gotten away with a yellow card in the opening phase after he had brought down El Idrissy who had broken through just outside the box. Kortrijk’s lead at halftime was flattering, although Club did not do enough with the dominance. The visitors were unlucky with two balls against the goal post. After just five minutes, Thiago hit the post and after half an hour Nusa’s shot exploded onto the crossbar.

Club had to work hard after the break and had an excellent opportunity to equalize in the 71st minute. After a mistake on Thiago, the ball went on the spot, but Skov Olsen shot wildly over the eleven meter. The miss was symbolic of Club’s offensive powerlessness. Due to the loss, Club Brugge remains in fifth place with 16 points, nine less than leader Union. The Kortrijk of the new coach Glen De Boeck is doing well at the bottom and passes the red lantern to Westerlo with 8 points.
