Cloud omelette recipes

If you are a ‘freak’ follower of the bizarre recipes and ‘foodie’ trends on social media, you surely haven’t overlooked one of this season’s ‘its’: the cloud omelette (also known as the ‘soufflé’ omelet or ‘fuffy omelette’). Its appearance has a certain spectacularity that makes it tremendously appealing and, thus, has made it go viral.

But don’t let appearances deceive you, it is a very basic preparation in terms of ingredients and complexity. You just have to follow a few tricks. We explain which ones, and you will see that in 10 minutes You can enjoy this soft, light, and delicious tortilla. It’s like sinking your teeth into a cloud!


What do we need to prepare a cloud omelette?

Very little thing: 4 eggs; a little bit of salt; half a teaspoon of cornstarch; 1 tablespoon of butter or olive oil.

We also need a frying pan with some depth (about 5 centimeters deep), a lid, and a lot of delicacy.


The trick is in the clear

The first thing is Separate the whites from the yolks into two containers.. Then, a pinch of salt is added to the egg whites and they are beaten to a point of nine, just as is done for pastry recipes.

On the other hand, the yolks are beaten together with the cornstarch until obtaining a dense cream consistency.


For the second step, two options:

Pour the butter or oil into the pan and let it melt, greasing the entire surface well.

Pour the beaten yolks and then, on top, the stiff egg whites. Gently shake the pan so that both layers integrate homogeneously.

Another option is, before cooking, to gradually integrate the egg whites with the yolks. Stir very gently with a wooden spoon until both textures are integrated. Then little by little the entire mixture is placed in the pan.
