Climbing in historic Ostend water tower

Climbing in historic Ostend water tower

The restoration of the tower cost 2.7 million euros. Inside will be a fully equipped training center. Nowhere in our country will climbers be able to practice in such an impressive way. Speleologist Dirk Deroo: “With the water tower, this will be a unique project, both in Flanders and in Belgium. The heights are of course the most challenging. There are climbing walls of 10 to 15 meters here and there. But here we have heights of 8, 17 and 28. That is unique and here we can practice everything.”

Office buildings

The neo-Gothic building of 50 meters high dates from 1900 and is located along one of the approach roads of Ostend. The city has been looking for a new purpose for the building for more than 25 years. Once upon a time, a large travel agency wanted to set up offices there.
