Climate protection at the TH Lübeck gets reinforcement

In order to promote climate protection at the TH Lübeck, the project “More climate protection at the TH Lübeck – implementation of the sub-concept properties of the Technical University of Lübeck” starts. In the previous project “Own properties of the Technical University of Lübeck” a partial climate protection concept had already been drawn up. The content of the new project is now to implement this concept. Stefan Engelhart is now strengthening the project with his new role as climate protection manager at Lübeck University of Applied Sciences. Regarding this Engelhart:

The climate protection sub-concept laid the foundation for making the Technical University of Lübeck more sustainable and climate-friendly. As a climate protection manager, I would like to accompany and support this process. Climate protection and sustainability have been central topics for me since my studies and I am therefore very much looking forward to working in this area at the TH Lübeck over the next two years, as well as to many exciting projects.

13 measures for more climate protection

The climate protection sub-concept contains 13 measures to strengthen climate protection at the Technical University. In addition to the classic tasks, such as improving energy efficiency through energy controlling and renovation measures, one focus of the measures is on addressing all groups represented at the university in a way that is appropriate to the target group. These are, for example, the students or the scientific and non-scientific employees. Another task is networking with other universities and climate protection initiatives in order to establish an exchange of experience and promote cooperation. The ultimate goal of the project is the permanent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption at the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences.

Support from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety

The project is from Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) As part of the National Climate Protection Initiative (NKI) funded (funding code: 67K13771). “More climate protection at the TH Lübeck” supports the efforts of the TH Lübeck to strengthen and establish the topics of sustainability and climate protection. The project duration is 2 years and started in February 2022.

With the National Climate Protection Initiative, the Federal Environment Ministry has been initiating and funding numerous projects since 2008 that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Their programs and projects cover a wide range of climate protection activities: from the development of long-term strategies to specific assistance and investment support measures. This diversity is a guarantee for good ideas. The National Climate Protection Initiative contributes to anchoring climate protection locally. Consumers benefit from it, as do companies, municipalities and educational institutions.
