Climate chaos of the last generation blocked the main entrance of a luxury hotel in Berlin on Wednesday evening. Police officers quickly broke up the protest at Potsdamer Platz.

According to the police, about 16 members of the group took part in the action. They sat peacefully in front of the main entrance of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, some holding up banners. The blockade was resolved after about an hour, as hotel general manager Torsten Richter told the German Press Agency.

“I see it as a peaceful protest,” he said. He had therefore waived a display of trespassing. There was no property damage. The guests were not significantly hindered. You could have entered or left the hotel through other entrances.

According to the hotel manager, the last generation was invited to attend a regular event for employees and to talk about the climate issue. The next meeting is planned for July, according to Richter.

The last generation had announced targeted protest actions against rich people. The group explained that the climate catastrophe was being caused “primarily by the rich”, and the group wanted to draw attention to that. Last week she sprayed paint on a private jet on the North Sea island of Sylt. They later sprayed paint at a five-star hotel.
