Clemens’ possible opponent in the semifinals has been determined

Englishman Michael Smith is in the semi-finals of the Darts World Championship in London.

The vice world champion from 2019 and 2022 prevailed 5: 3 against compatriot Stephen Bunting in his quarter-final duel on Sunday afternoon.

Smith led clearly for a long time and finally used his second match dart to make it 3-1 in the eighth set. The 32-year-old is the possible opponent of German hope Gabriel Clemens in the semi-finals.

Clemens will meet world number one Gerwyn Price (Wales) in the evening. The 39-year-old from Saarwellingen was the first German to qualify for a World Cup quarter-finals on Friday with a win over Scotsman Alan Soutar.

The last quarter-final in the evening is the match between Michael van Gerwen (Netherlands) and Chris Dobey (England).

Darts World Cup: Van den Bergh for the first time in the semifinals

In the early afternoon, Dimitri van den Bergh reached the World Cup semifinals for the first time in his career. The 28-year-old Belgian beat Welshman Jonny Clayton 5-3 and is playing for a place in the final on Monday.

Van den Bergh, who, like Smith, has secured £100,000 in prize money, used his second match dart in a hard-fought duel to check double nine.
