Clause applies: second division record scorer Terodde stays with Schalke 04

Striker goes into Season 2

Second division record scorer Simon Terodde will remain at Schalke 04 for another season. The Royal Blues announced this on Saturday after beating Hannover 96 2-1. In the extension, a clause linked to a certain number of bets, which was 25 games, applied.

“Simon showed from the start how important he is for FC Schalke 04. This not only applies to his performance on the pitch, but also to his progress in the dressing room. He’s a very important part of our team. That’s why we’re very happy that Simon will continue to play with us beyond the end of the season,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder.

The 34-year-old was signed by Hamburger SV on a free transfer last summer and had initially signed a one-year contract with an option. Born in Bocholter, who was crowned top scorer in the lower house in 2016, 2017 and 2019, is currently leading the top scorer list in the 2nd Bundesliga with 19 goals this season. Overall, he has 161 goals in 276 second division appearances.
