Claudia van den Heiligenberg shoots with sharp for Orange Lionesses against HFC

Without many problems, the former Orange Lionesses won the New Year’s match against Koninklijke HFC on Sunday 1 this afternoon. Partly due to an unchained Claudia van den Heiligenberg, it became 0-7 in Haarlem.

At halftime it was 0-3. The 97-time international Van den Heiligenberg scored the opening goal and the third goal. In between, Shirley Smit was accurate for the team of national coach Andries Jonker who, among others, brought former internationals Dyanne Bito, Desiree van Lunteren and Karin Legemate within the lines.

In the second half, Silvia Smit scored the 0-4 from a penalty kick. Despite the fact that the Orange Lionesses killed several chances, the score rose to 0-7. Smit also made it 0-5, after which Van den Heiligenberg again asserted himself. The former player of AZ, Telstar and Ajax signed for both the 0-6 and the 0-7.

Later this afternoon Sjaak Swart’s men will play against the Legends of Koninklijke HFC. It is an anniversary, because exactly one hundred years ago the first New Year’s match was played. The last two editions were canceled due to the corona virus.
