From the perspective of supermodel Claudia Schiffer (53), models can show much more of their personality these days. Thanks to digital media and e-commerce, models have completely different options, said Schiffer in an interview with the German fashion magazine Vogue.
“They have the power and control over their own images, their voices and their values, which I admire,” Schiffer continued. In her time, models would have had to do a lot of interviews or be on a magazine cover to show who they were. International audiences are also much easier to reach through social media.
According to Schiffer, this is both a blessing and a curse. In the 90s, models had a lot more privacy, today you have to be constantly present to keep up. “You could completely switch off and take a little break and do other things in peace. “Social media makes that impossible today,” Schiffer continued.
