Dutch Clarks stores under the wing of shoe company Mulder Schoenen will close this month, a representative for the British shoe label told FashionUnited on Thursday. However, this does not mean that the brand will completely disappear from the Dutch street scene, as new store openings are already being planned.
Since December 2023, Clarks has had a new distribution partner, the Brussels-based Group Alain Broekaert. The aim of the collaboration is to support the brand’s growth in Europe. Part of the partnership includes the opening of new Clarks stores in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. “Planning for the first stores is already well advanced,” said the brand’s representative.
The insolvent Clarks stores are operated by the traditional company Mulder Schoenen. After the partnership between them and Clarks was not renewed, the businesses were declared insolvent, the person representing them said. This only affects the Dutch stores; the British shoe brand will continue to exist as usual.
