Jaimie Vaes was brutally beaten by Jorik Scholten, better known as Lil Kleine. Yet, according to RTL Boulevard lawyer Clarice Stenger, she is not the only victim in this case. She believes that nuance is lacking and that attention should also be paid to the suffering of perpetrators of domestic violence.
Human size
It always comes from somewhere, Clarice explains in Veronica Superguide† “The human dimension must not be lost sight of. Recently we had the arrest of Lil Kleine, where I said that it is also good to keep an eye out for the perpetrator of domestic violence.”
Clarice is still behind that. “There is no one who thinks in the morning: gosh, I’m going to beat up my husband or wife today. The moment we continue to see those perpetrators as perpetrators and massively disapprove of this as a society, then it will be much more difficult for victims of domestic violence to go to the police.”
gut feeling
Misrepresenting perpetrators like Jorik is only detrimental to victims like Jaimie, Clarice thinks. She fears that it will lead to fewer declarations. “Because then you think: if my husband and the father of my children are so reviled, then I won’t take that step.”
According to Clarice, the dung that Jorik gets over him goes too far. “People rely on their gut feeling. If you apply a nuance, you stand up for the suspect, you are too soft, et cetera.”
Glennis Grace
For years celebrities got away with misconduct fairly easily, but nowadays they are pilloried. Clarice does not find that a pleasant development.
In that light, what does she think of the call to cancel Glennis Grace after her fight in the Jumbo? “Our office assists Glennis Grace, so I won’t say anything about that.”
Thailand
Jorik is currently in Thailand, officially to improve his life. In her own words, Jaimie does not notice this in her communication with the rapper. She even revealed last week that he wanted to evict her and their baby Lío.
