Clap on agreements about sufficient affordable homes in Central Drenthe. Five parties are making agreements on this

Sufficient affordable housing for young and old. That is briefly the purpose of the document ‘Multi-year performance agreements 2023-2027′, which was signed on Wednesday by the municipality, Woonservice, Actium and tenants’ organization.

Agreements have been made in this agreement about, among other things, affordability, quality of life, sustainability, living with care and new construction of social rental homes in the municipality. The agreements are a follow-up to the Housing Vision that was adopted by the city council in May. Dennis Bouwman (PvdA), alderman for housing: “There is a great demand for affordable homes for young and old. We see this nationally and Central Drenthe is no different. That is why cooperation between the municipality, housing corporations and tenant organizations is very important.” With the signing, the agreements are laid down and ratified.

Need

The municipality and both housing corporations are especially committed to the realization of life-resistant homes because there is a great need for this. The parties believe that life-cycle-proof homes that are sustainable and affordable contribute to living independently at home for as long as possible. This is done by adapting existing homes and by building new, life-resistant homes at suitable locations, such as the Havengebied and Jade B in Beilen.

Bothilde Buma, director of Woonservice: ,,In addition to building new homes, we are committed to making existing homes more sustainable. This is how we ensure that our tenants’ energy bills go down. It is especially important at this time to keep housing costs as low as possible.”

Senior broker

Rein Swart, director of Actium: ,,The use of a so-called senior broker is also part of the agreements. A senior broker is an employee who talks to residents to see what is needed to live independently at home for longer or to be able to move to a more suitable home.”

The tenants’ organizations also signed the performance agreements. The tenants’ association Samen Sterk (Woonservice) and the tenants’ organization MEVM (Actium) expressed their appreciation for the manner in which the performance agreements were established. According to chairmen Marcel Bomers (MEVM) and Peter Vereijken (Samen Sterk), cooperation in the field of affordable housing in a nice neighborhood is getting better and better: “But we remain alert during the year, together with the corporations and the municipality, to monitor signals from our to deal with tenants quickly and efficiently.”
