The meteorological models have been corroborating throughout the last days the possibility of precipitations in the form of snow at low levels and this same Saturday the Meteorological Service of Catalonia has issued a warning for snow at low elevationsmainly for the coastal and central pre-coastal regions and which will fully affect the entire Barcelona Metropolitan Area from 7:00 p.m. on Sunday to noon on Monday.
In parallel, Civil Protection has activated the special emergency plan for snowfall (NEUCAT) before the episode that occurs during the change of week. In that span of time the snow level can go down to sea level and with the possibility of accumulating between 2 and 5 centimeters thick above 400 meters.

Ground level in Barcelona
The counties affected by this notice are the following: Alt and Baix Penedès, Alt and Baix Empordà, Anoia, Bages, Baix Llobregat, Barcelonès, Garraf, Maresme, Moianès, Osona, Selva, Tarragonès and the Vallès Occidental and Oriental.
It will be in the throes of Sunday when the possibility of snowfall sweeps the greatest number of counties, especially in the central sector from Tarragona to the south of the province of Girona and in the pre-coastal and Central Catalonia.
As the night progresses and we enter early Monday morning, the risk of snowfall at low levels will become more concentrated in the coastal regions and first thing in the morning it will focus on the southern sector of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area: From the Catalan capital to Garraf.
In the afternoon, the risk of snow will move to the extreme northwest, affecting the Alt and Baix Empordà regions.
Warnings for wind, cold and waves
In addition to the risk of snowfall, the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya has also issued three more warnings of a dangerous weather situation due to wind, strong waves and cold. According to the SMC tomorrow Sunday they will be able to give strong gusts of wind, which may exceed 90 km/hin the high altitudes of the Pyrenees and the eastern Pre-Pyrenees.
