The organization of the Hoogeveen City Light Festival has won the Hoogevener of the Year 2023 award. The announcement took place in the Tamboer during the municipality’s New Year’s reception. According to the jury, there were wonderful initiatives last year, but the light spectacle stood out above them all.
During the City Light Festival in December, visitors can enjoy laser light shows, a Christmas market and performances by light artists. The second edition of the festival took place at the end of last year. The club succeeds political reporter Merel Ek van Hart van Nederland, who won the prize last year.
“The Hoogeveener of the Year 2023 not only distinguishes itself by connecting residents of Hoogeveen, but also connects various organizations that are committed to Hoogeveen,” the jury explains. “A special mention goes to the organizations and volunteers who are committed to this event.”
